Specialist medical training

The Department of Pulmonology has five regular training positions for specialists in pulmonology (Category A). The clinical training includes three- to six-month rotations in the general pulmonology outpatient clinic, sleep medicine and respiratory therapy, lung transplantation, pulmonary hypertension and stationary pulmonology medicine including the intermediate care unit.

All aspects of clinical pulmonology are taught including outpatient and inpatient evaluations and treatments, functional diagnostics, interventional pulmonology, lung transplantation and sleep medicine. In addition, systematic theoretical training is provided in preparation for the FMH specialist examination. Depending on the candidate's interests, participation in several research projects including in-depth study in special subject areas is possible (e.g. acquisition of the Certificate of Competency for Sleep Medicine).

Educational curriculum

The pulmonology curriculum is organized over a period of three years. Training takes place in close cooperation with other pulmonary teaching hospitals (Stadtspital Triemli, Stadtspital Waid, Kantonsspital Winterthur, Höhenklinik Wald, Kantonsspital Münsterlingen).
